Traveling with your pet: the timeline that saves your flight

Updated July 2026 · 5 min

Taking a dog or cat abroad is possible — but it's a race against the calendar. Each step has a minimum lead time, and skipping one means rebooking the trip.

The right order

  1. ISO microchip: before the rabies vaccine counts.
  2. Rabies vaccine: usually required at least 21–30 days before boarding.
  3. Titer test (FAVN): for Europe and some destinations — Chigo books the collection.
  4. CVI/e-CVI: issued in the MAPA system in the days before the trip.
